Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, attracted enthusiastic cheers and attention in Lafia as he joined Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) and other party leaders at a major North Central grassroots mobilisation rally ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The rally, hosted by Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, at Lafia Square, brought together APC stakeholders, women leaders, political mobilisers and supporters from across the North Central region in a gathering focused on mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Bello’s presence added a notable political dimension to the event, with the former governor drawing cheers from the crowd at the sight of him. His reception reflected the attention he continues to attract among party supporters, particularly those familiar with his political activities and leadership experience in Kogi State.
The former governor joined the gathering alongside prominent APC figures as the party intensified efforts to strengthen its structures and deepen grassroots engagement across the North Central geopolitical zone.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu led a delegation of women from the six states of the region, highlighting the role of women in political participation, party mobilisation and community engagement, while the APC NWC represented the party’s national leadership at the rally.
Addressing the gathering, the APC leader commended the organisers for their mobilisation efforts and acknowledged the contributions of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Governor Sule and other party stakeholders.
He urged Nigerians, particularly residents of the North Central region, to support President Tinubu for a second term, arguing that continuity would allow the administration to consolidate its reform agenda, strengthen the economy, expand infrastructure and advance development.
The gathering also underscored the importance of unity among APC leaders, governors, traditional rulers, women, youths and grassroots mobilisers as political activities build towards 2027.
For Bello, the Lafia appearance offered another opportunity to participate in a major party engagement beyond Kogi State, in the company of national leaders and stakeholders working to strengthen the APC’s regional mobilisation efforts.
As preparations for the next general elections gather momentum, the message from Lafia was clear: sustained engagement at ward and polling-unit levels will remain central to the party’s mobilisation strategy, while the reception accorded its prominent figures demonstrated the importance of political visibility and grassroots connections in the unfolding campaign season.
