Kogi State INEC Set Date For PVC Distribution In Ojila And Odolu

The Kogi State branch of Independent National Electoral Commission has announced date for the distribution of the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) in Ojila in Ibaji and Odolu in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Areas.

The resident electoral commissioner in Kogi State, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje who disclosed this at a press conference in Lokoja noted that the exercise will be conducted between Friday 2nd and Sunday 4th of January, 2015 between 8am and 4pm each day.

Mr Agbaje said the exercise will be completion of process in all the 239 wards in Kogi State and also allow all registered voters to perform their civic duties as a citizen of the state and the country at large.

“All PVCs not collected by their owners during the exercise would be kept in the LGA office under the custody of the Electoral officers for subsequent collection by their owners.

“the distribution of PVC would take place simultaneously with the Pre-CVR Display, this is to avail registered voters the opportunity to check and confirm whether their particulars are in the INEC database or not at the polling unites where they registered originally,” said Agbaje.

He maintained that the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise would be extended to 7th of January, 2015 to complete at the registration areas level.

While reaffirming the commission’s determination to conduct free, fair, credible and acceptable elections in 2015, Mr Agbaje said strategies have been put in place at INEC level to achieve that, just as he called for stakeholders’ support for the commission to succeed in her plans.

“Consequently, so many things have been put in place by INEC in terms of voter education, public enlightment, distribution of PVCs, CVR exercise and permanent of electoral materials among others.

“The INEC has utilized her strategic plan to address identified challenges and has continued to tap into tremendous goodwill and support of all stakeholders, international community and the entire citizenry for the commission to succeed in all her plans, the cooperation and active participation of all stakeholders in the political and electoral process is highly needed.”

So far, 754,464 Permanent Voter Cards, (PVCs) have been distributed out of 1,189,856 received.

Mr olusegun Agbaje, at the recent deployment by the INEC, has been transferred to Ondo State and has been replaced by Alhaji Hussaini Halilu Pai as the new resident electoral commissioner in Kogi State.
