Kogi Prince, Malik Ado-Ibrahim Emerges YPP Presidential Candidate, to Slug it Out With Atiku, Tinubu

The Young Progressives Party (YPP), on Wednesday, elected Prince Malik Ado-Ibrahim as their presidential aspirant for the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

He will slug it out with the presidential candidates of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Senator Bola Tinubu respectively.

The renowned civil rights activist and founder of the Reset Nigeria Initiative polled 66 votes to defeat his rival, Mrs Ruby Issac, with four votes.

A former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Adamu Garba, had been scheduled to be part of the YPP presidential aspirants but withdrew from the race, saying that he suspended his ambitions to unite the youths.

Though there were about 74 accredited delegates, only 70 voted.

Malik is the son of a foremost Kogi monarch, the Ohinoyi of Ebira land. He had earlier urged the party to zone the presidency to North Central in 2023.

The Kogi Prince who had earlier described himself as one of the best presidential aspirants for 2023 polls said he will ensure and fairness in the country.

“I started this journey in October 2021 and I’m working to be a part of what I consider to be charting the course for one of the greatest countries on this planet.

“As a patriotic Nigerian from the Attah family in Kogi, I believe that I have what its takes to lead the country into greatness.

“This is because we are desperately in need of somebody who is going to proffer solutions for Nigeria’s myriad of challenges.”
