The Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State has embarked on a door-to-door campaign to retain seats in the State House of Assembly elections slated for April 11.

The party at present has more than half of the 25 seats of the Kogi State House of Assembly and will be battling against the Accord, All Progressives Congress and Labour Party to retain the seats, among other parties.

Our correspondent, who was in the Anyigba and Ankpa areas of the Ankpa Local Government area of the state, on Monday observed some supporters of the party making use of the Easter holidays to do some door-to-door campaign ahead of the polls.

One of the supporters, who said his name is Friday, said the party would not fold its hands and allow the APC to sweep the state away from its reach.

“We are doing this to ensure that the state is not out of our reach,” he said.

“The presidential election of March 28 has opened our eyes to the things that the opposition could really do if we sleep with our eyes closed.”

The Director of Administration of the party in the state, Balarabe Isa, also supported the claims.

He told our correspondent on the telephone, “The Buhari phenomenon which helped the APC in the March elections will not be there and so we have mandated our ‘Honourable’s to go back to their various constituencies to ensure that they get the votes needed to bring them back to the house.”
