…Urges Kogites to choose wisely in the Nov. 16 gubernatorial election.

Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Kogi, the ex-Campuslife reporter with The Nation, Arogbonlo Israel says selfless leadership should be considered as the ultimate solution to the epileptic situation in the state while noting that vote buying as detrimental to the credibility of the poll.

Arogbonlo, a Lagos based journalist, made this known in a press statement released to newsmen on Saturday.

According to him, “It is high Kogites come together under one umbrella and choose selfless leaders to pilot the affairs of the state.

“We can no longer give ears to the ‘praise singers’ who have become political tools in the hands of some self-centred politicians, with view of buying our votes as a result of their failure in government.”

The journalist urged Kogites to choose wisely in the forthcoming election while noting voter apathy as the major challenge that might stall the poll.

He said: “I would like my fellow Kogites to choose the candidate of their choice wisely especially in a time where political advertisers are on the rampage. It is expedient we vote for the candidate with the most political competency and not the one with the highest bid.

“The state needs a selfless leader that has the interest of the people at heart and we must be pragmatic in our decision of making the state better as the election draws close.

“We are committed at rewriting a history that would create a landmark for generations yet unborn, which more be done decisively.”

Arogbonlo called on all the electorates and all the principal officers to shun electoral violence in the forthcoming governorship election slated for 16 November, urging the INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu to ensure a free and credible poll.
