Kogi State Government has been called upon to rehabilitate Otite, Ochaja and Egbe Booster Stations, in order to inform, entertain and educate the people at the grassroots on the government programmes and projects.

The Assembly member also urged the local governments to participate in the funding of Radio Kogi by contributing one percent of their monthly statutory allocation from Federal Account to support and complement the effort of the state government.
House of Assembly member representing Okene II Constituency, Hon. Lawal Momoh Jimoh made the statement in a motion moved on the floor of the House during a plenary session.
Hon. Momoh Jimoh who stated that effective broadcasting is a veritable tool for disseminating information about government policies and programmes, said it will also sensitize and mobilize the people for participation and involvement in governance.
He added that no amount of investment in the broadcasting outfit can be too much for a people-oriented government.
He said the people of the Central Senatorial District, especially, are not being adequately informed about government policies and programmes due to the epileptic nature of the booster station in Otite.
Hon. Momoh Jimoh pointed out that the implication of this limited broadcasting and total breakdown is that the people are not being adequately informed about government programmes and policies in their own native languages.
He said in a democratic era, where there is need for increased involvement and participation of the grassroots in governance, the radio remains the most potent medium for sensitizing and mobilizing the people’s support for government programmes and project.
He, therefore, commended the state governor for his several efforts in ensuring that the booster stations are functional.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abdullai Bello ruled and adopted the motion as was earlier seconded by the member representing Yagba West Constituency, Hon. Abidemi Adeyemi.
