The Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada (retd), has said the state and local governments have embarked on projects worth N1.037bn. They include solar borehole, health clinic, classrooms, purchase of ambulances and water projects.
Speaking during a television broadcast to the residents on Monday as part of his administration’s second year anniversary, the governor stated that the government had disbursed about N445m to projects under the community and social development projects in various sectors, like education, rural electrification, transport and water.
He added that the state government paid N495m as counterpart fund under the Millenium Development Goals Conditional Grant Scheme in 2012.
He lamented that the last flood situation in some parts of the country, which inluded Kogi State, was one of the challenges of his administration.
Wada said, “The flood, which wreaked havoc in nine LGAs in the state, led to the displacement of over 600,000 people while property worth more than N3bn were destroyed.”
