Kogi Guber Election: Sunday Umoru Admonishes PDP Exco, Delegates Against Nepotism

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) front runner gubernatorial aspirant, Chief Sunday Umoru has said the premises of electing the right candidate to fly the party’s flag and coast to victory come November 2019 for the gubernatorial election in the state should not be dependent on the highest bidder, godfatherism, and nepotism.

In a press statement to Kogireports; Chief Umoru admonished the Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party chapter executives, stakeholders, and the party delegates who has statutory obligations to elect the party’s candidate when the party’s primary election hold in few months to conduct a free, fair and credible primary election that will produce the right candidate that has the capacity, the credibility, the agility and the impetus to challenge Gov. Yahaya Bello, strength for strength!

The chief lamented that anything short of free, fair and credible gubernatorial primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party will not only be accepted but will in turn brighten the chances of the incumbent Yahaya Bello because of the division and chaos it will cause in the party.

The aspirant referenced that all the state house of assembly primary elections conducted by the Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party were not pleasingly conducted and was allegedly marred with nepotism, and in some cases primary elections were not held due to automatic tickets given to anointed candidates, and as a result, all the disenfranchised aspirants and their supporters became aggrieved and were very demoralized to effectively rally and invigorate the electorates, which in turn gave the All Progressive Congress (APC) the opportunity to benefit hugely by winning all the seats in the State House of Assembly general elections.

Chief Umoru, prayed that the National Party, the State Party and stakeholders should not go the route of nepotism because it will not be accepted by anyone but will only ensure victory for the APC.

Conclusively, Umoru reiterates his commitment and determination to take the incumbent governor Yahaya Bello head on, in the “fight” to take over the Lugard House, if he emerges as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for the State gubernatorial election.
