Ahead of the Thursday APC election, the Kogi East Zonal Chairman of the party, Mr. Ahmed Attah has disclosed the resolve of all the delegates from the zone to vote massively for the incumbent governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

The zonal chairman insisted that the reelection bid of Governor Bello in the 2019 November 16 governorship poll will be a walkover, adding that the level of support the Governor is enjoying is based on the success of his administration in the last three and a half years.

This is as he commended the court judgement which affirmed the mode of primaries for the election and the disqualification of most of the APC aspirants for the Thursday primary election. He noted that these has confirmed the visibility of the governor across the state.

Attah who stated this while fielding questions from  journalists in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital after the party’s stakeholder’s meeting on Monday, noted that it is time to pay back the good deeds of the governor.

He argued that Yahaya Bello remains the candidate to beat considering how party delegates hold him in high esteem, especially those from Kogi East where projects and appointments were massively done.

He noted that although the governor hails from a different zone in the state, he has remained a detribalized leader with the Igala people strategically positioned in this government.

While pointing out some of achievements by the governor, he noted that the administration in the past three and half years undertook far-reaching reforms in the civil service which was the major crime of the governor, stressing that with the recent payment of backlogs of salaries, the governor has become the bride of the people.

He added that voting against the governor is directly saying the road constructions and other projects as well as the appointments of Igala sons and daughters into government should be stopped.

The Zonal leader berated those blaming some supporters of the governor from the zone stressing that other zones would have been blamed for supporting the Igala sons when they were in power.

“If Yahaya Bello could come second in 2015 while he was not in power, he will come out victorious with intimidating margin in the election having empowered several Igala sons and daughters.

“This election is not between Yahaya Bello and the many candidates from Igala land, it is between the masses and the elites who have been pushed out from milking the state, those who want to still bring their family members into the payroll and those who are not happy that the younger ones have taken over politics in the state.

“From all indications, from everything I have seen because we call regularly, we are very scientific, we don’t guess in the dark, Bello will win because the support is massive and very real among delegates,” he said.
