A former governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has tasked the Tricycles Owners Association of Nigeria, Omala chapter, to imbibe the culture of hardwork, industry and prudence in the management of resources accruing from their vocation so as to reduce poverty and create employment.
This advice was given yesterday at Abejukolo, headquarters of Omala Local Government Area of the state during the official unveiling of the certificate of operation and launching of the formal take-off the association.
Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, represented by the member representing Omala constituency in the state assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Akuh urged them to be committed and dedicated to their vocations while commending them for their determination to succeed in the face of the prevailing harsh economic situation of the country.
He advised them to have at the back of their minds that the small beginning could lead to stupendous wealth and called for honesty and frugality in handling the derivable income to grow the business.
He pointed out that Omala people and Ife progenitors were noted for honesty and industry. He urged them to shun thuggery and predatory activities.
At the highlight of the occasion, Alhaji Idris and Hon. Aliyu Akuh were honoured for their pioneering roles in the promotion of tricycles business in growing the economy of the youth of the local government.
The former governor gave N259,000 to the association while the former Deputy Speaker supported them with N10000 as an encouragement to stimulate their business.
At the house of one of the youth leaders who lost his father, Hon. Too Much Money, he prayed to God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
He charged the youths and all the supporters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain resolute so as to repositoon the party.
