A leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Dr. Adekoya Folabora Bryhm, has condemned a deadly attack on the Abugi community in Lokoja Local Government Area, describing it as a “senseless” act of violence that has left the area in mourning.
The attack, whose perpetrators remain unidentified, claimed several lives and left many others injured, according to a statement issued by Dr. Bryhm’s media office.
In the statement, the 2027 governorship hopeful extended condolences to the Maiyaki of Kupa and the entire Abugi community, calling the incident an “impromptu and devastating tragedy.”

“The scale of this senseless violence is deeply shocking,” Dr. Bryhm said. “I stand in solidarity with the families who have lost their loved ones and pray for the swift recovery of those currently hospitalized.”
Dr. Bryhm called on the Kogi State Government to act swiftly in tracking down those responsible, insisting that a thorough investigation must be carried out to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Security agencies must leave no stone unturned,” he added. “We must send a strong message that such mindless brutality will not go unpunished. The safety of our communities is paramount.”
He rounded off the statement with prayers for the souls of the deceased and a call for proactive measures to forestall a recurrence of such attacks in the state.
