Kogi Assures NYSC Members on Security and Peaceful Environment

Security of lives and property will remain paramount in the agenda of the Kogi State Government as it has vowed to provide the necessary peaceful environment for National Youth Service Corps Members.

Capt Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor gave the assurance at the closing Ceremony of the 2013 Batch “A” Corps Members deployed to Kogi State at the NYSC permanent orientation Camp at Asaya, Kabba.

The Governor who was Represented by his Deputy,Yomi Awoniyi,said driving the development process should not be left for the government alone,urged the Corps Members to contribute to the Socio Economic development of the State.

Wada disclosed that emphases and encouragement is being placed by his administration in localised, decentralised and participative approaches to development,called on the Corps Members to associate with the rural and urban citizens of the state to elicit the best in their national service.

The Governor charged the Corps Members to make their service year different, said the needs of people of the state takes precedence in his administrations developmental efforts.

While noting that his administration’s efforts is geared towards increasing the capacity of the people in all sectors with the underlining principle of empowering citizens for self reliance,human development and sustainability,said the Corps Members will serve as the inevitable change tool and agents.

In his speech, Anthony Puke commissioner for Youths and Sports and Kogi State Chairman NYSC Governing Board,extolled the positive virtues of the NYSC said the orientation course has equipped the Corps members with the Technical know how to face the challenges of national service in the field.

He commended the tremendous support the scheme has enjoyed from the present administration in the state,urged corps employers to provide the corps members with the necessary facilities.

Earlier in his welcome address, Anthony Azubuike Enweonwu, Kogi State NYSC Coordinator said work has resumed at the abandoned project site of the three hostels in the camp aimed at ameliorating the growing challenges of accommodation,commended the state Government for its support to the NYSC scheme.

The Coordinator described the service year as full of hope,potentials and aspirations individually and collectively,praised the Corps Members for their conduct while in camp.

A total of 1683 corps members and 213 camp officials participated in the March,2013 three weeks orientation course
