The Kogi State Government, acting through the Kogi Anti-Internet Fraud Team (KAiFT), is set to roll out a statewide awareness and sensitization campaign targeting secondary schools and tertiary institutions across the state, beginning Thursday, June 11, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Fraud and Internet Matters, Hon. Kelvin Oluseyi Eleta, the initiative will kick off at FUL International College, Adankolo, Lokoja, marking the formal launch of what officials describe as a comprehensive effort to promote responsible digital behaviour and discourage young Nigerians from involvement in internet-related crimes.
The sensitization programme is designed to reach students from Junior Secondary School 1 through Senior Secondary School 2, engaging them through structured presentations and interactive sessions on the dangers, legal consequences, and wider societal impact of internet fraud and cybercrime.

Facilitators at the sessions will include representatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), and a number of voluntary organisations committed to youth development and ethical use of technology.
As part of the campaign’s long-term sustainability framework, an Anti-Internet Fraud Club will be established in each participating school following the completion of the sensitization exercise. The clubs are intended to serve as platforms for ongoing education, peer mentorship, student engagement, and monitoring — with a focus on instilling values of integrity, hard work, and responsible technology use among young people.
The club model signals that KAiFT’s objectives extend beyond a one-time intervention, embedding anti-fraud advocacy into school communities on a continuing basis.
In a statement, the Kogi Anti-Internet Fraud Team reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the broader vision of the Kogi State Government in cultivating a generation of responsible digital citizens and building a safer online environment for all residents of the state.
The campaign is expected to be rolled out progressively across schools and institutions in the state following the Lokoja launch.
