Ihima Security Summit: Ohinoyi Ebira Calls for Grassroot Initiatives, Reconciliation

Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, His Royal Majesty, Dr Ahmed Tijani Muhammed Anaje, has called for grassroot initiatives to promote peace and security.

Speaking at the Ihima Peace and Security Summit, themed “Building a Safer and More Resilient Community,” held at the Ihima Civic Center, Ohueta, on Sunday, the revered monarch stressed on the need to promote love and reconciliation.

Ohinoyi called on Ihima indigene, at home and in diaspora, to value and develop the community.

He also called for a collaborative relationship between the Ebira and Fulani communities.

A former House of Representatives member, who chaired the summit, Alh. AbdulKareem Salihu, praised His Royal Majesty Ohinoyi Ebira for his presence, which he said underscored the vital role of peace and security in societal advancement.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to foster peace in Ebiraland and implement robust security measures.

The chairman called on mothers to closely supervise their children’s activities to ensure proper upbringing and safety.

The president of the Ihima Welfare Association commended His Majesty and emphasized the summit’s importance in light of security concerns, questioning the lack of leadership engagement in addressing these issues. He advocated for peace and stability and suggested using security funds for job creation.

Representative of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Elijah A. Evinemi, the Head of Service, while formally declaring the summit open, commending the initiative and reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to peace and security.

The State Security Adviser, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), who was also represented, pointed out the importance of resilience and collective action in tackling security challenges.
