The senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Karimi, has commenced the reconstruction of vital bridges, culverts, and comprehensive water channelling works in the Ilafin–Isanlu and Ejuku axis of Yagba East Local Government Area, Kogi State.

The strategic infrastructure projects, fully funded by the lawmaker, are targeted at combating severe erosion, controlling environmental degradation, and preventing the complete collapse of crucial access roads linking several grassroots communities in the zone.

Inspecting one of the active project sites along the Iyeju River on the Ilafin Road in Isanlu, a former Chairman of Yagba East Local Government Council and former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Ganiyu Salaudeen, lauded the senator for his swift intervention.

Hon. Salaudeen, popular known as “Erukutu Yagba”, noted that the damaged arterial link was last rehabilitated during his tenure in government, making Senator Karimi’s emergency works the first major intervention on the critical road in ten years.

He added that upon completion, the drainage, channelling, and bridge projects will significantly ease long-standing transportation hurdles, improve road safety for residents and farmers, and stimulate local economic activities across Ilafin-Isanlu, Ejuku, and the wider Kogi West district.
