A human group, Peoples Advocate, have petitioned the Kogi State Chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga, for the arbitrary detention of one Precious Emmanuel, by a Felele Area Court one.
A copy of the petition was served to newsmen in Lokoja today. The petitioners claimed that one Engineer Dada, working in connivance with the Felele Area Court Judge, detained Precious, a lady, the Engineer claims he would deal with.
Precious, according to the petition, had been detained since last week on the orders of Engr Dada, who said he was going to use his money to deal with her, a threat he has so far actualized.
Findings reveals the a lawyer from Barrister Janet Makun’s Chamber has been making frantic effort to secure the bail of Precious, but Engr Dada’s threat of keeping her for three days is why the police kept her, and is still promising to keep her for seventy two hours.
For now, Human Right groups are calling for the transfer of the Judge in Area Court Felele, for using his position to detain Precious on trump up charges, all to prove a point that he has the powers.
The group call on the Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajana to aside transferring the Judge carry out an investigation into the activities of the judge.
