Hon. Seun Samuel Ibigbemi is the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, contesting as member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the 2027 General elections, who has facilitated about 30 jobs for youths in the Constituency. In this Feature, Our Political Desk examines the Political, Economic and Social Impact of the gesture.
Before now, unemployment has long been described as the “silent crisis” facing young people in Nigeria. The three local government areas that make up Yagba Federal Constituency — Mopamuro, Yagba East, and Yagba West, is not an exemption.
But as the 2027 general elections approach, a name is increasingly being mentioned in communities across the constituency: Hon. Seun Samuel Ibigbemi Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), contesting as member representing Yagba Federal Constituency

A Visionary Leadership, who has provided mentorship to Youths and those around him, Hon. Ibigbemi has in recent years facilitated 10 government jobs in the Nigeria Forest guard and 20 private sector jobs for youths in the constituency, without contesting an election.
While modest in number, the intervention is already producing measurable social, political, and economic ripple effects.
Social Impact
Beyond statistics, these employments have restored dignity in many homes. For parents in Isanlu, Mopa, Odo-Ere and surrounding communities, a child with a job means shared responsibility — contributions to rent, school fees, and family upkeep.
The 30 beneficiaries are also becoming community examples.
“When a young person gets a job, it changes how other youths see their future,” a community leader in Yagba East noted. The jobs have reduced idleness and created informal mentorship, as beneficiaries guide peers on skills and application processes, says Olaitan Taiwo.
Political Impact: Track Record Over Rhetoric
As political activities intensify toward 2027, Hon. Ibigbemi’s approach stands out: delivering tangible results before the campaigns begin.
In a constituency where voters remember representation between election cycles, the PDP Candidate is building credibility through direct impact.
Political analysts observe that job facilitation, even on a small scale, creates organic grassroots support. The 30 employed youths represent 30 families, extended networks, and new advocates for a politics of delivery rather than mere promises.
Economic Impact: Retaining Talent, Circulating Wealth
Economically, the 30 jobs mean more money circulating within Yagba. Salaries from government and private employment translate to rent paid to local landlords, purchases at markets in Mopamuro and Yagba West, and patronage of small businesses across the constituency.
Importantly, private sector placements have helped retain skilled youths who might otherwise migrate to manor Cities. This retention preserves human capital and strengthens the local economy, with some beneficiaries already investing their earnings in small-scale ventures.
A Model for Representation
While 30 jobs cannot erase unemployment in a Federal Constituency, they demonstrate a model of proactive representation. Hon. Ibigbemi’s intervention suggests that elected office should be an extension of service, not the beginning of it.
As 2027 approaches, the conversation in Yagba Federal Constituency may shift from “what will you do?” to “what have you done?” For the 30 youths now earning a living, and the families they support, the answer is already clear.
The PDP Candidate should be commended for doing what Napoleon has not done before in the Constituency as if voted for, he will use his office to do more for his constituents.
