Hon. Abdulrazaq Mourns Ohi of Okengwe-Okene, Alh. Yakubu Yusuf

The Chairman of Okene local government council, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has described the passing on of His Royal Highness, Alh. Yakubu Yusuf, the Ohi of Okengwe/Okene Kingdom and Vice-Chairman, Ebira Area Traditional Council, as a shock.

The monarch passed on at the late hour of Saturday February 27 after a brief illness at the age of 80.

In a condolence message through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Abdulmumin Abubakar, the Council Chairman described the late monarch and the first Executive Chairman of Okene local government as a man of impeccable character, an astute administrator and a fearless public officer.

“As the first elected Council Chairman, Alh. Yakubu laid a foundation for the social economic development of the area and left behind a strong institution of public administration. 

“As the first monarch to ascend the referred stool of Ohi of Okengwe/Okene, the royal father brought his expertise, years of experience in public service, wisdom and exposure to build the traditional institution to the delight of both residents and visitors of the kingdom.

“Regrettably, he died at the time both government and his subjects need more of his father advice and guidance to combat social and economic challenges of the country,” he said. 

The council chairman said the late monarch will be remembered for his unique contributions to Ebira traditional institution, his peaceful disposition and fatherly inspiration.

Hon. Abdulrazaq prayed Allah to grant the deceased Aljana Firdause and his Kingdom the fortitude to bear the loss.
