The Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State Governor, Kingsley Fanwo has stated that Governor Yahaya Bello has appointed the best as Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants to drive his New Direction for Change Agenda.

Addressing pressmen at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, Tuesday, the CPS said the appointment of Mrs Ayoade Folashade was strategic in meeting the criteria of competence, gender and ethnic balance and a clear focus on the task of repositioning the state.

“The Governor of Kogi State is determined to reposition the state as reflected in his recent appointment of the Secretary to the State Government and other advisers and assistants. The choice of Dr. (Mrs) Folashade Ayoade as SSG was to assure the womenfolk in the state of the readiness of the Governor to give them the chance to contribute to the advancement of the state.

“The Special Advisers and Assistants appointed by the Governor are men and women of competence, honour, who are intellectually mobile and ready to key into the New Direction for Change Agenda”.

The CPS told newsmen that the Governor is moving the state forward, regardless of the antics of some antagonists who are enemies of the Kogi masses.

He said: “The first 30 days of the Governor was laden with unprecedented achievements that has set the tone for a historic tenure. Within his first week in office, he was able to resolve the hitherto intractable face-off between labour and government which had kept labour out of work for months before he took over on January 27, 2016. The show of understanding and cooperation by labour will not be betrayed by the Governor.

“Also, the Governor directed the abolition of all deductions from the allocations meant for all Local Government Councils the state. For the past four years, council workers had not taken more than 30% of their monthly salaries.

That has changed under the new government.

“As we speak, Lokoja is wearing a new look. Government and the citizens are collaborating to make the city the confluence of excellence. More plans are being hatched to make Lokoja a tourist first port”.

When asked on the involvement of the Governor in the House of Assembly crisis, Fanwo told newsmen that the Governor is not the brain behind the crisis.

According to him, “the crisis had started long before the swearing in of Governor Bello”, saying, “the Governor respects the limits of his power and authority under the principles of power separation”.

He however expressed confidence in the ability of House members to resolve the crisis, “as men of honour who are ready to support the development of the state”.
