A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi State and gubernatorial aspirant, Prince Yaqub Rotimi Obadofin, has described Kogi State as a near-collapsed state that needs a pragmatic and focused leader that will inject an all round transformation that will bring it out of the current doldrums.
Speaking to journalists in Lokoja yesterday, Obadofin said that if elected, he will introduce free and compulsory education in primary and post primary schools in the state, saying his six cardinal points include, free and compulsory education, agricultural transformation, urban renewal, employment generation and affordable health care services.
The gubernatorial aspirant explained that he has made himself available for the service of Kogi State since 2005 to bring to bear his wealth of experience so as to develop the state to an enviable height, adding that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led administration in the state has continued to pauperised the citizens with its irreverent policies
On his chances of winning the APC gubernatorial primary slated for last Saturday of this month, he said: “My robust political antecedents, profound affability to the masses, coupled with a virile political structure I laboured to put in the 21 local government areas in the state, will give me resounding victory and an edge over other contestants.”
Prince Obadofin also appealed to the Igalas to respect the principle of power shift in the forthcoming election, saying that it will be antithetical to natural justice, fairplay and equity if other ethnic groups in the state are now allowed to have a taste of the governorship in this new dispensation.
As part of the efforts to make this a reality, the western and the central axis of the state has formed a coalition to streamline the numbers of gubernatorial aspirants from the two districts.
Obadofin pointed out that a committee has been put in place to choose the most sell-able candidate among the aspirants and the other aspirants have just nominated him as the most qualified, urging delegates in the forthcoming primary to vote for people with integrity rather than moneybags
