Police Rescue 13 From Kidnappers’ Den in Kogi

Police in Kogi state have successfully rescued 13 persons kidnapped by gunmen.

The victims were kidnapped on Friday, March 25 at a hotel at Eleite community on Lokoja – Ajaokuta road.

Those rescued included 11 men and two women.

Spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Aya confirmed the rescue of the 13 victims from their abductors.

Aya said they were rescued on Tuesday by operatives attached to the Quick Response Unit of the command.

He said their rescue followed the order given to that effect by the state Commissioner of police, Mr Akeem Yusuf.

He said that all the victims are rescued unhurt.

“Today,Tuesday 28/3/2023,the Operatives of Quick Response Unit led by the Commander, SP Obafemi OJO promptly swung into action through a credible intelligence and located the Kidnappers’ hideout in a forest around Zariagi-Kabba Junction.

“On sighting the Police, the hoodlums engaged them in a gun duel.

“Owing to the superior firepower of the Police, the hoodlums were forced to flee with varying degrees of injuries, while thirteen kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt.

“One AK-47 magazine containing six rounds of ammunition was recovered from the scene,” Aya said.

The Commissioner of Police, while commending the operatives for their bravery and diligence, urged members of the public, particularly the adjoining communities, to be on the lookout and report any body seen with bullet wounds to the nearest security formation or agencies.
