The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kogi State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening strategic collaboration with the Federal Fire Service, Kogi State Command, in a renewed drive to enhance national security, intelligence coordination, and the safety of lives and property.
This was made known by the Controller of Corrections, Kogi State Command, CC Hadiza Inna Aminu, during a courtesy visit by the Deputy Comptroller of Fire Service, Kogi State Command, DCF Omade, who led a delegation to the Command Headquarters, Lokoja, on Thursday.
The visit was aimed at fostering mutual understanding, building stronger institutional ties, and establishing a more productive working relationship between the two security agencies.
Speaking during the visit, DCF Omade noted that the evolving nature of security threats requires greater cooperation, intelligence sharing, and coordinated responses among government agencies. He acknowledged the critical role of the Nigerian Correctional Service in the national security framework through the safe custody, rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration of offenders.
He also highlighted the strategic responsibilities of the Federal Fire Service, particularly in protecting households and property against fire incidents through swift emergency response.
Responding, CC Aminu warmly welcomed the Deputy Comptroller and his delegation, and congratulated him on his deployment to Kogi State Command. She described the visit as a significant milestone towards consolidating the existing relationship and strengthening professional cooperation between the two Services.
The Controller noted that both the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Federal Fire Service occupy strategic positions within Nigeria’s security architecture and operate under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Interior. She emphasized that this shared responsibility provides a strong foundation for improved synergy, mutual support, and effective service delivery.
According to her, contemporary security challenges demand more than routine engagements. She called for sustained collaboration through intelligence sharing, timely communication, professional exchanges, and coordinated operational efforts.
“While the NCoS contributes to national security by ensuring humane custody, rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration of offenders, the NFS plays a vital role in protecting government and individual properties across the country from fire incidents and in swiftly containing them when they occur,” CC Aminu stated.
The Controller therefore advocated for a structured and continuous partnership between both Commands, noting that practical collaboration would enhance crime prevention, strengthen public safety, and improve the overall security environment in Kogi State and beyond.
She assured the Deputy Comptroller of the Command’s readiness to maintain a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with the Federal Fire Service, expressing confidence that the renewed partnership would contribute significantly to the collective efforts of security agencies in safeguarding lives, property, and national security.
The visit concluded with both Services expressing a shared commitment to deepen inter-agency cooperation and build a stronger, more coordinated security framework in Kogi State.
