Gov. Bello Promises More Robust Relationship of His Administration With NYSC

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi on Monday reaffirmed his commitment to continue to strengthen the relationship between his administration and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The governor gave the assurance at the NYSC orientation camp, Asaya, Kabba, at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2073 corps members deployed to the state for the 2018 Batch ‘A’.
Bello, who was represented by the Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Mr Sani Ogu-Salisu, also assured the NYSC of his resolution to give the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp a face-lift in structure and facilities.
“We shall continue to strengthen the relationship between the Government and the NYSC Scheme in spite our meager resources. This administration will be remembered for effective corps welfare.
“The ongoing infrastructural renovations in this orientation camp is a proof that this administration respects the comfort of the corps members which gingers much productivity among them.
As soon as the renovation is completed, the NYSC will be proud to receive a conducive orientation camp facilities.
“In addition, the administration is fully aware that the general altitude, the morale and psychological disposition of the corps members could be influenced by the facilities on camp,” Bello said.
He, therefore urged the corps members and camp officials to exhibit high sense of discipline in all the camp activities for a great success in the NYSC 2018 Batch ‘A’ Orientation Course in Kogi.
The State Coordinator, Mrs Oludolapo Ahile, said the NYSC orientation course would equip the corps members with practical, social and leadership skills required for the challenges of the service year.
She added that it would also inculcate discipline in corps members and make them imbibe good work ethics in preparation for their primary assignment.
The coordinator stressed that the NYSC would “strictly follow its posting policy which focuses on rural development. We are here to serve the people of Kogi by contributing towards the New Direction Policy of the governor”.
She urged all employers in the state who were interested in having corps members to forward their requests without delay, and make adequate preparation for their safety and well being.
She commended the governor over the ongoing camp renovation, fencing and construction of more hostels and quarters for camp officials, while she implored the contractors to speed up the work for timely completion.
1, 041 males and 1,032 females took the oath of allegiance, which was administered by Justice Richard Olorunfemi, on behalf of the Kogi Chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah.
