“Friends of ECWA Hospital, Egbe”, a non-profitable and non-political association has donated the sum of N7,250,000 in support of the revitalization project of the hospital to ensure its sustainability as a leading medical and teaching facility.

Egbe Hospital, named after the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), is located in Egbe, Kogi State.

Established in 1951 by the Canada based Sudan Interior Mission (SIM), the 75-bed multi-service complex comprises of approximately 33 acres with 68 buildings, including a College of Nursing and Midwifery.

It is Situated on a major intersection between Ilorin and Lokoja, with people coming to the hospital from all over Nigeria.

The hospital till date is adjudged as one of the best in Nigeria and sub-sahara Africa.

In recent years, the medical facility has been under revitalization by the Serving in Mission (SIM) missionaries, associated with the Samaritan’s Purse World Medical Mission hospitals in Africa.

The association codenamed “Friends of ECWA Hospital, Egbe” and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) was inaugurated in December 2017 by indigenes to empower and sustain the Hospital following years of infrastructural, medical personnel and health care delivery set backs.

The association whose membership include public spirited indigenes of Egbe, home and the Diaspora was charged with improving and providing affordable medical care to ailing persons through joining hands with the hospital revitalization team spearheaded by the America-based SIM to restore the hospital’s past glory.

Founded by Elder (Mrs) Julianana Johnson and Oman-based Dr James Ekundayo Dada, the association’s main focus is to support “in all forms possible”, efforts of the revitalization team.

While presenting a cheque of N7.25m purposely to build a duplex within the hospital complex to accommodate visiting doctors and missionaries, the acting Chairman of the association, Elder R.E Olaofe predicted that the high standard of the globally renowned hospital was not only about to be raised higher but he also said he foresaw that ailing people would be referred to the hospital from foreign countries in the near future.

In his response, Revitalization Project Leader, Engr Don Campion, who is the son of Dr George Campion, the Canadian founder of the hospital, remarked that, “the whole wide world, where SIM has projects, Egbe people and supporters in Nigeria have singled themselves out through their sustained financial supports”.

He expressed his appreciation of the gesture on behalf of the team with a promise to report back to his father (George Campion) and his mother who presently are aged 97 and 96 years old respectively, back home in Canada.

Also present at the cheque presentation ceremony are United Kingdom based Chief M.O.E Igunnubole, the Afotitojagunmolu of Egbe, who is a financial consultant to the Revitalization Team; Mr Monono Hans, Secretary of the association; Pastor Taiye Alabi, treasurer, Pastor Adeyemi, Auditor, Mrs A.B Ige, Mr Ayorinde Igunu, Revd Babawarun, Mrs Adodo, Engr S.K Awarun, Elder J.O Aina, Madam Mercy Akolo, Mr Chris Adedoyin Aremu, Mrs. E.D Igunu and Elder T.B Baba, among others.
