As Muslims in Nigeria and all over the world worship, pray and mark the festival of sacrifice as ordained by Allah, former President Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Idris Omede has admonished Muslims to strive to make the world more friendly, habitable and peaceful

He said they can achieve these through their activities and actions to have a world healthy for living.

The former President, Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), in his goodwill message, urged Muslims to uphold the sanctity of life.

“As Muslims, while we pray and mark the festival of sacrifice as ordained by Allah through Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismael, may we be able to adhere to the spirit and lessons of that religious injunction and faith in Allah, being the determinant of what happens to us a people, while we work hard to excel in our righteous endeavours.

“We should also strive to make the world more friendly and habitable through our activities and actions; a world in which peace, progress and healthy living thrive and where sanctity of life is upheld”, the former commissioner of Health in Kogi state said emphasising that “religious is clear about these virtues which we should not just proclaim, but act and demonstrate at all times, even as we remember the sick and the departed,” he said.

Dr Omede called on all faithfuls to use the solemn moment to “soul search” and “act responsibly and stay safe”.
