The Kogi State indigenes in Plateau State have reaffirmed their confidence on the ability and patriotism of the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Kogi state, Hon Edward Onoja in working with Governor Yahaya Bello in bringing to reality the targets and ambitions of the New Direction blueprint describing him as a good ambassador of Kogi indigenes on the Plateau where he schooled and lived.
This declaration was made recently in Jos on the occasion of a special reception in honour of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Governor of Kogi state. The Kogi indigenes spoke through the Chairman of the Kogi State Unity Forum, Plateau state chapter, Pastor Jatto Anikuroko.
They described the appointment of Hon. Onoja as a reward for commitment and selfless services and struggles for good governance, saying by the way and manner he was schooled and nurtured and his competence and intelligence, he described him as ‘the right man for the job’.
He also commended His Excellency for his display of his confidence in one indivisible Kogi state where the occupation or attainment of political office should not be judged by ethnicity, insisting that the appointment has renewed the hope of Kogi indigenes on the unity of the area and people which the appointment epitomize.
“At a time like this in the life of Kogi state, when the government and the people are yearning for rebuilding and redirection of state wealth to serve the entirety of the Kogi state people not minding ethnicity or influence of Godfatherism, the sagacity and competence of a determined change advocate like Hon Onoja will be an advantage,” he said.
Speeches were made by the representative of three senatorial district, Alh. Idris Bello, the Odeyi Anebira of Jos; Chief Owa Taiye, the Oba of Okun in Jos; and Alhaji Sadiq Muhammed, the Onu Igala of Jos at the event.
In his Keynote address, Hon. Edward Onoja thanked them for the show of love and solidarity for the Governor and assured them that Kogi state under the Governor Bello will be moved into economic prosperity. He said Governor Yahaya Bello emergence to Governance of Kogi state is divine and the Governor he said is on a divine mission to rebuild the state and rescue it from drifting as a result of the actions of former leaders of the state.
