Ugwolawo acknowledged the brilliant scholarly efforts of the Kogi-born scholar, Dr. Aminu, and called on government ensure the country’s security space get to read the recently launched book on community policing.
“We have taken our time to review your Nigerian government funded research at the University of Liverpool and research-related advocacy activities over the years in Nigeria. In this context, we would like to congratulate you on this occasion for conducting a world-rated and people-oriented research of this nature in the United Kingdom, most especially at the time of need in Nigeria, Africa and globally.
“You have done us proud in this onerous task of building crime free society through community policing outfit. Nigeria is in dire need of experimenting the proposed Ochamalienwu theory of community policing in practical terms which we hope could help tackle the herdsmen/farmers crisis for restoration of peace and socio-economic growth in Nigeria.
“Indeed, our security experts have expressed strong opinion on the effectiveness of community policing to cub our present security challenges. Copies of the book should flood the country’s security space. It is equally necessary to reduce the publication to working document for the establishment of Community Policing Directorate of the country’s crime preventive architecture.
“It is indeed, a great effort of Dr. Aminu Musa Audu, like other Africans to demonstrate rare academic prowess to do us proud on international scene. It is another issue for us to reciprocate with high sense of recognition, particularly our national, state and local governments across the continent. If we do not possess our own, no one else will do that for us. Thank you, Dr. Aminu Musa Audu. May your ground-breaking research work continue to gain deserved recognitions and rewards,” he said.
In his response, Dr. Aminu said: “I am highly appreciative of the rained accolades and advice of the esteemed organization of NAPCON pedigree. Interestingly, I was born into farming profession in Nigeria. I grew up as a farmer, which was the primary source of funding for my primary, secondary and University education in Nigeria. My passion for farming has never waned. I look up to robust collaboration with the organization, especially on the platform of International Institute of Community Policing.”
