In the midst of latest endorsement and criticism in kogi state, we must be careful not to set Kogi ablaze because of personal interest.

We all have a stake to play in Kogi state and we must rise above tribal and religion politics to a clear records politics; where we can make positive comparison about government performance which is very health for every democracy.

My greatest worries are, why those hailing and wailing have failed to tell us their reasons for doing so. Largely its based on prejudice and self centeredness.

Let me start this way. I am a supporter of Prince Abubakar Audu of blessed memories but this has not changed anything whenever I write about the happenings in Kogi state. As a man who wants the best for his state, I have always said that this is the worst time to be a Kogite. We are living in a state where there is clear absence of governance.

While some may think that we are always too generous with encomiums to late Audu, we do so for a man who has kept a record that can never be wiped. Audu built all the infrastructure you are enjoying as offices and residence as government functionaries, he built one of the best Universities around, he built other higher institutions of learning, the libraries, hospitals, roads. Yet he was paying salaries as at when due with less than a billion as allocation from FG.

After him, other successive governors have failed to meet his standard. For those who don’t want Gov Bello to be criticised for his abysmal performance, you are his greatest enemy. Yahaya Bello represents a lot of interest, he represents the Igbiras, the minority, the young people etc. Now, my question is this, are these groups proud if his achievements?

In a state where we are arguing wether the government is owing 20 months or 15 months salaries, why should those who loved their governor like us, not criticise him.

Kogi is in danger. The people are not happy, our roads are bad; imagine the death trap between Ajaokuta and Itobe, who will see that and be happy with what is going on in Kogi state. If the argument is that it is a Federal road, are we not seeing other states that are doing such projects and make the claims from FG? We can not hide in our comfort zones and said all is well. Kogi is bleeding and that is the truth.

For those who want us to be quiet at this time, sorry we can not do such great disservice to our state.

Personally, I wish Governor Bello well in his political journey but certainly the path he has taken is dangerous for our state, the APC which we all fight dearly for and his political career.

May I advice the governor, that he does not enjoy the support of the masses and those telling him he is doing well now are political jobbers with little or no electoral value. He has the obligation to leave Kogi state better than he met it but certainly that’s not what we are seeing today.

A stitch in time, saves nine.
