Dino-Deen: Emergence of Two Foremost Lawmakers in 2023 Kogi Gov’ship Race

It is clear that the great people of Kogi State have been offered the best choice of candidates by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the upcoming gubernatorial election slated for November 11, 2023.

Undoubtedly, the emergence of distinguished Senator Dino Melaye as Kogi PDP governorship candidate at the primary and the nomination of Honourable Habibat Muhammed Deen, as the Deputy Governorship candidate, is highly unprecedented in the political history of Kogi State. 

Sen. Dino Daniel Melaye is a foremost, brilliant, vibrant and outspoken lawmaker. An unrepentant advocate of good governance and egalitarian society. He has served both at the Green and Red chambers of the National Assembly. He has to his credit, numerous motions and bills that has direct positive torch with Nigerians. He is a personality with an outstanding performance, exposure, talents and versatility.

Sen Dino Melaye hails from Ayetoro-Gbede Ijumu LGA of Kogi State. Former chairman, House Committee on Information and National Orientation, former chairman Senate Committee  on FCT and former chairman Senate Committee on Aviation. In the course of his legislative duties, he steered various committees in an exceptionally productive manner which earned him several awards and recognition locally and internationally including being the “Best Lawmaker of The Year” in the House of Representatives. He was equally awarded as the “Best Senator of The Year 2016, 2017 respectively”, best Parliamentarian Award.

Others include, best Honourable Representative of the Year by Global Youth Awareness and Development Initiative, Protector of the Youth P.D.P National Youth Vanguard.

Further awards includes the “Epitome of Servant by National Association of Kogi State Students, Youth Libra for Award by the Visioners Club of Kogi State, the Great Motivator of Students by Nigerian Economic Student Association, Icon of Good Leadership by Kogi Peoples Forum, 2008 Diplomatic Member of the year by St Monica’s College Kabba and the most performed National Legislator by Vision  2020 Youth Group. Most vibrant Honourable member, Abuja Merit Awards African Parliamentarian of the year 2005 in U.S.A.

Melaye also won the ‘Senator of the year’ award in 2017 and 2018 among other distinguished recognition.

The PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, Hon. Mrs. Habibat Muhammed Deen, hails from Ankpa Local Govt Area of Kogi State. An intellectually equipped administrator and lawmaker. She served as member Kogi State House Assembly representing Ankpa 1 State Constituency. She was PDP candidate for  House of Representatives for Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency 2019.

A philanthropist and well skilled personality, very brillant parliamentarian of high repute with intimidating track records of legislative performance.

Hon. Habibat Deen, made a remarkable contributions as a member of Kogi  State House of Assembly. Her emergence as PDP deputy governorship candidate signifies a beautiful beginning of new era in our political experiment. 

Since the creation of Kogi State in 1991, no woman has been nominated, appointed or elected as deputy governor, no wonder, her emergence reactivated the political activism and consciousness among the women in Kogi State. 

Hon Habibat DEEN, held the hereditary title of Princess of Ankpa, grand daughter of Sani Ankpa who was the beaded Onu Ankpa from Abah clan, Ankpa Traditional Area Council, Kogi state. No doubt, if voted into office, the women of Kogi State will play a very significant role in the governance affair.

Hon. Habibat DEEN is an all time entrepreneur and a practice administrator with diverse business experience who has worked in Kogi State Board of Internal Revenue with clear transcendence before she joined politics and was duly elected as an assembly member for Ankpa I constituency in 2011 where she served under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from 2011 to 2015.

Interestingly, for the very first time, Kogites are being presented with two foremost, experienced, articulate and competent lawmakers as governor and deputy governorship candidates respectively. The mixture of both legislative and executive experience with deep understanding of the workings of the government undisputedly classified the PDP 2023 governorship ticket as the best and visible alternative to rescue and liberate the good people of Kogi State come November 11, election.

The emergence of Dino/Deen candidature, politically experienced and foremost lawmakers will usher in better service delivery and restore good governance in Kogi State, where every Kogite shall be a worthy stakeholder.
