CUSTECH: Council Chairman Highlights Socio-Economic Benefits of Confluence University to Adavi LG

The Executive Chairman of Adavi local government council of Kogi state, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami, has once again commended Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for his foresight in establishing and building Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.

In a statement issued by his special adviser on media and publicity, Engr. Jamiu Habeeb, on Tuesday, the council chairman said the new university will foster socio-economic growth within the host community and local government.

According to him, CUSTECH will surely provide more jobs for women, youths and also bring about rapid development to the area.

CUSTECH is located in Osara community, Adavi LGA of Kogi state. 

The Council Boss stated that the recent establishment of the tertiary institution in Osara community has begun to boost social and economic development, and productive coexistence to the host community and Adavi LGA. He added that it has also led to an increase in the standard of living of people within the community, bringing people of different ethnic backgrounds together and also creating employment opportunities and harmonious coexistence among the people of the Adavi LGA and Kogi State at large.

“The institution has contributed positively to the correlation and cooperative relationship between the tertiary institution and Osara community dwellers, due to the cooperativeness of the indigenes and non-indigenes, the management, and students of the tertiary institution. 

“The host community has in recent times experienced rapid growth in terms of buildings, the building students’ lodges, residential houses, and on the increment of small scales businesses. 

“For the purpose of clarity; the establishment of CUSTECH will not only be beneficial to the host community, but it will also benefit Kogi State and the nation at large. The university is a world-class university aimed at contributing to national development through high-level and relevant manpower training. 

“In few months to this time, I am very optimistic CUSTECH  will inculcate proper value for the survival of the society, develop the intellectual capability of individuals to understand and appreciate their local and external environments, and it will provide physical and intellectual skills for individuals to be self-reliant which will be useful to members of the society. 

“My people anticipate that the Institution will bring huge development to Kogi State which I believe the people of Adavi will not be left out from the benefits it will bring to the host community,” he said.

Hon. Salami noted that as the chief security officer of the local government, he has put proactive measures in place, through deployment of Adavi Security Network to safeguard and monitor the tertiary institution and its environment.
