Executive Secretary, Kogi State Emergency Management Agency, Mrs Alice Ogedengbe, has appealed to the state Ministry of Transport and all stakeholders to enforce the use of life jackets by boat operators and travellers.
This was contained in a statement yesterday signed by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Ibikunle.
Mrs Ogedeggbe, who spoke against the backdrop of the recent boat mishap in the state, said the casualty figure would have been minimal if passengers had worn life jackets.
While commending staff of the agency for their cooperation, Mrs Ogedengbe called for synergy between the state and other regulatory agencies so as to be able to enforce and monitor activities of boat operators
