Following media enquiries about his birthday celebrations, one of the leading chairmanship aspirant in Adavi local government and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Eneye Muhammed Ametinigo, has counselled his family, friends and associates to contribute their quota in supporting the state government.
In a statement issued by one of his close aide in Okene yesterday, Alh. Ametinigo urged the state government to
develop Kogi youth through skill acquisition scheme.
According to Alh. Ametinigo the concept of “empowerment scheme” had been politicised. There can never be a situation of “no poverty”, so long as the human machine can never function at the same rate of efficiency.
The youth and women who are generally believed to be vulnerable, can be developed to rise above poverty line through skill acquisition scheme instead of “empowerment scheme”.
There are significant number of beneficiaries of various empowerment schemes that needed to be developed instead. For instance, a sewing machine was given to an unemployed and unskilled youth. He sold the machine at a give away price, and he became much more vulnerable. Many other instances can be cited.
“I, Alhaji Eneye Mohammed Ametinigo as the man of the people is not condemning “Empowerment Scheme” but I am advocating for more attention on developing our people. Development schemes include bursary to indigents; organised vocational training, and excursions”, he said.
Ametinigo also urged his friends and associates to celebrate him in the service of humanity instead of devoting money to adulatory and self-glorifying advert messages.
Alh. Eneye Muhammed explained that God has been “wonderfully kind to him for sustaining his life and keeping him in good health to witness yet another birthday event.”
According to him, giving back to humanity has been his passion and that his friends and associates can honour him
better if they spend their resources on charitable causes to celebrate his special day.
“My special day, and indeed the season is one of reflection, of thanksgiving and prayers; of inestimable gratitude to God for attaining this milestone.”
He said touching lives of others is the best expression of gratitude to God for His boundless favours and blessings.
“I will forever cherish your prayers for more years in good health to enable me undertake whatever assignment God
and humanity have set for me.”
