Bassa LG Chairmanship Aspirant Advises Youth on Drug Abuse

An aspirant for the chairmanship of Bassa local government area of Kogi state in the April 2020 chairmanship election, Zakeri Ibrahim Yembo, has called on youth in Bassa land in particular and Nigeria at large to shun hard drugs as future leaders of the country.

Yembo gave the advice Thursday in Abuja when he was hosted by the youth from Bassa local government area of the state residing in the Federal Capital Territory, noting that “a drug-free society is a crime-free society.”

According to him, a lot of crimes are committed when perpetrators are high on illicit drugs.

“I want to let you know that if a society is drug-free, crimes like armed robbery, homicide, kidnappings, rape, prostitution, wife-battering, etc, would not exist,” he said.

Yembo said further that if he was voted into power as chairman of Bassa local government, he would ensure that every youth in the area was engaged with skills to enable him/her to be self-sufficient, adding that by doing so, they would be discourage from any form of vices.

“Bassa land is blessed with milk and honey. I want us to join hands together to build it, come together to ensure that peace, love and harmony exist amongst all the ethnic groups in the land. That is my mission to serve Bassa,” he said.

He called on Kogites to support the second term administration of Governor Yahaya Bello to enable him to succeed.
