Kano zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called for immediate reinstatement of its members sacked in Kogi State University Anyigba, and Lagos State University.

Addressing a press conference at the ASUU secretariat in Kano, Zonal coordinator of the union Professor Mahmoud M. Lawan stated that 125 staff of Kogi State University and 2 staff of Lagos State University were sacked adding that
the sack was unjustly and unconstitutional.
He said the union has made efforts to resolve the issues in the two universities affected amicably by interacting with administrative authorities of the universities, holding congresses in the branches among other issues.
He added that despite all the efforts by ASUU, the respective visitors and management of the universities continued to act with impunity and against the constitutional provision of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and against all extant national and international labour laws.
According to him, the purported proscription of ASUU-KSU, as the charter with which the branch operates belongs to ASUU, not the government and therefore condemned the move.
“The union awaits the immediate adherence to its call by authorities of the two university and failure to do so will amount to the union taking the next line of action which will be decided by the national body of the union,” said Professor Lawan.
