Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, both were former managers of Manchester United and Arsenal football clubs in England respectively. Till today, the duo still command respect in the football world for their ability to identify and nature talents to the surprise of all even among their contemporaries in the coaching field.
The above scenario best described the relationship between the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello and his Special Adviser on Ministry of Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. (Dr) Abubakar Sadiq Ohere.
From inception, Gov. Yahaya Bello knew Engr. Ohere is a talented and committed member of the new direction family, therefore, he waste no time as he handed over to him the leadership band to pilot the affairs of the 21 Local governments in the State and of course double as the political leader of Kogi Central.
To many, Ohere is not a grassroot politician, and has no capacity to navigate the mucky political terrain especially in a most politically conscious place like Kogi Central. But to Gov. Bello, Engr. (Dr) Abubakar Ohere is an experienced Technocrat, an accomplished Public Servant and a learned member of the progressives.
However, three years down the line, Engr. (Dr) Abubakar Ohere has not only proved his critics wrong, he has as well brought uncommon decorum, refined vigour and has successfully established sanity to the once volatile political system of Ebiraland, and by extension Kogi State.
To the Civil Servants, Ohere is a reformist, the political class described him as a worthy leader with a large heart, but to the youths, Engr. (Dr) Abubakar Ohere is a philanthropist whose kind gestures have turned around the life of many young men and women for good, and of course the women groups were not left out as they too described Engr. Ohere as a poverty crusher in Kogi State.
Engr. (Dr) Abubakar Ohere is now a household name in Kogi Central, his interventions in many fronts speak volumes, his inter-personal relationship and oratory skills did the major campaigns for our party and of course, our victory was made easy.
