The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has described the Court of Appeal judgment that affirmed Governor Yahaya Bello’s re-election as the true reflection of the wishes of Kogites.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Deputy Speaker, who represents Ankpa 1 constituency in the Assembly, congratulated Governor Bello and his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja on the well deserved legal victory.

The Deputy Speaker commended the judiciary for rising up to its solemn responsibility of ensuring that justice prevails, stressing that the judgment was a clear indication that the third arm of government is the last hope of the common man.

“Today’s judgement at the Court of Appeal against the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Musa Wada; Natasha Akpoti of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Action Peoples Party (APP) and Democratic Peoples’ Party (DPP) is a clear indication that Governor Yahaya Bello remains the duly elected Governor of the state.

“I wish to call on opposition parties to drop their difference in the interest of the state and join hands with our visionary governor to move Kogi state forward. Our governor as a man of peace is ever ready and willing to accommodate all shades of interests in line with his administration’s New Direction Agenda,” he said.

In similar vein, the Senior Special Assistant to Kogi state Governor on Political Matters for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu, Omoluabi Olabode Adeyemi described the judgement as landmark and an affirmation of the people’s mandate he secured at the polls.

“The governor’s victory at Appeal Court did not come to me as a surprise. Truth has no hiding place. The good people of Kogi had overwhelmingly spoken in unison for continuity of the governor’s urban renewal drive, they had chosen continuity of the government that that has offered employment to thousands of their children.

“The good people of Kogi did not mince words in their demand for continuity of a government that has given farmers reasons to smile by offering them palliatives and opening up the links to urban area, making it easy to ferry their produce with zero stress.

“The good people of Kogi were in their best state of mind when they asked for a continuity of the government that has brought affordable health care to their doorsteps.

“They spoke through the ballots for continuity of the government that has given every strata of people in the state a reason to be proud of. For continuity of inclusion and transformation they spoke. Their voice is sacrosanct which the tribunal and Appeal Court have upheld” he said.

Omoluabi further appealed to those whose ego may have been bruised by the decision of Kogi people to join hands with governor Bello in building the state, saying there is room for everyone.
