The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Pius Kolawole has commended Governor Yahaya Bello on his landmark achievements in all sectors of the economy as his administration marks two years in office.
In a congratulatory message made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Friday, Kolawole said the numerous achievements Governor Bello’s administration have recorded in office in the space of two years despite the numerous challenges that have bedeviled the state since its creation over two decades ago deserves applause.
Kolawole specifically extols the governor for his commitment, determination and political will to reform the Kogi State Civil Service even at the face of scary challenges, which has brought sanctity, eliminated ghost workers and unqualified ones at all levels in the state’s civil service.
“I want to sincerely commend the governor for his outstanding achievements in the area of security by investing heavily in the procurement of utility vehicles, infrastructures for the security agencies and creating an enabling environment for investment opportunities.
“His Excellency has ensure that the menace of insecurity such as incessant armed robberies, kidnappings, thuggery, communal clashes and other social vices have been reduced to the barest minimum. This has attracted both local and foreign investors into all sectors of the State’s economy.
“This administration has also recorded remarkable successes in all sectors especially in the five thematic areas of the New Direction Blueprint, such as agriculture, health, education, youth and women empowerment, and security, including job creation, infrastructures, good governance, among others.
“His Excellency has also engaged the principles of justice, equity and fairness in all his appointments and projects across the 21 local government areas, which has fostered enduring unity among various ethnics, religious and political groups across the state.
“In job creation, this administration has created over 25,000 jobs directly or indirectly under the state empowerment programmes in agriculture, and over 2000 youths employed in the State Vigilante Services, 100 Forest Officers and thousands in the State Internal Revenue Services.
“The state government has been able to increase its monthly internally generated revenue (IGR) from the initial N350 million to well over N1 billion.
“In the area of health, the government has constructed new hospitals, renovated and upgraded old ones into standard hospitals and equipped them with facilities worth several millions of naira.
“The health indices of our people have improved tremendously, child mortality and morbidity rate has reduced significantly. We have spent millions of naira to enhance the health of the people especially the vulnerables through various halthcare intervention programmes,” Kolawole said.
The special adviser calls on the good people of Kogi State to renew their faith in the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and take advantage of the numerous life changing programmes available to them under his administration, and give their total support to the governor so as to attract more dividends of democracy.
Kolawole also expresses gratitude to the governor for the opportunity giving to him to serve in the capacity as the special adviser to the governor on political matters which he considers as a rare privilege.
