Stakeholders through Raheema Chambers have charged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to court over non-disclosure of information requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
The stakeholders are demanding full disclosure on investigations into Global Infrastructures Nigeria Limited Association with the Concession of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL) and National Iron Ore Company (NIOMCO) made to the EFCC through a letter dated June, 13, 2017.
The Stakeholders are Sulaiman Abdulraheem, Natasha Akpoti, Nigerian Metallurgical Society, African Iron and Steel Association, Steel and Engineering Workers Union of Nigeria and Iron and steel Senior Staff Association of Nigeria.
In the Charge sheet made available to newsmen, sworn by a Principal partner of the Raheema Chambers and Counsel to the Complainants ,Micheal Okereke, it stated that the charge is seeking the courts to within 30 days “Compel the EFCC to furnish the chambers with a Certified true copy of interim report on the investigation of Global Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (GINL) relating to the company’s operations and activities in the concession of Ajaokuta steel Company Limited and also information to the status or state of prosecution of the company in relation to its alleged activities in its operation of the concession agreement.”
