Senator Atai Aidoko Ali (Kogi East, PDP) has debunked rumours making rounds that he had converted from Christianity to Islam for political reasons.
In a press statement, the Federal lawmaker expressed serious concern on how the issue of the his alleged conversion to Islam had taking the centre stage of Kogi political discourse.
He stated that at no time has he contemplated moving from one religion to the other for political exigency.
He explained that from his upbringing and background, he had lived peaceful with diverse ethnic groups and people from both religions have been his political, business and intimate friends irrespective of their differences in faith.
“As a Christian in the last 14 years at the National Assembly, I am contented with the favours, mercies and blessings of the Almighty Lord towards my life and I don’t need to adopt a convert-approach to realise any political ambition in the nearest future. The Lord does favour whom he, the Almighty, wants to favour, not minding religious background,” he said.
He urged political associates, followers, sympathisers and members of the public to disregard such irrelevant and diversionary information as it is a figment of imagination of mischief maker.
Aidoko said he was born to a Christian home and remain a practising and dedicated Christian in the Lord’s vineyard.
