The executive chairman of Adavi local government council, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami has flagged off the distribution of fertilizers donated by the Kogi state government to farmers in the council.

According to a statement issued by the chairman’s media aide, Jamiu Habeeb, on Tuesday, the fertilizers were distributed through the farmers association in Adavi and will be overseen by the department of agriculture and natural resources in the local government.

At the flag-off ceremony, the council chairman commended Kogi state government for always providing support to the farmers when necessary, adding that such gesture will motivate them during the period of cultivation and enhance positive outputs of farm produce during harvest season.

He urged the farmers association, while handing over the fertilizers, to distribute it evenly without any form of discrimination as they were chosen to distribute it so as not to defeat the aim of the project which is to support all farmers.

“You alone know those who are into farming, and those are the targeted individuals,” he said.

In the same vein, the Council Boss proceeded to flag-off drugs provided by the state government through the Ministry of Local Government/Chieftaincy Affairs to Adavi local government hospitals.

The drugs are specifically for patients with cholera, an infective disease that is common in the area during this rainy season.

“We are grateful to the state government. As it is said, health is wealth, and I appeal that these drugs get to the patients free without charge,” Hon. Joseph Omuya noted.
