The Accord Party, Kogi State chapter has raised alarm over plots by politicians in the state to compromise officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with the aim of setting up ‘special registration centres’ to aid rigging of 2019 general elections.
The state publicity secretary of the party, Richard Otitoleke, made this known in a press statement issued on Monday.
Otitoleke alleged that the illegal registration centre will be deployed to carry out massive double registration exercise that will enable the promoters doctor election results in 2019.
“It has come to notice of our party of the obnoxious and desperate move of some scrupulous politicians in Kogi State to engage and compromise some INEC officials in carrying out ‘Special Voters Registration’ in some parts of Kogi State.
“The alleged plan is to move the unsuspecting voters emass, from one local government to the other for the purpose  of altering and manipulating the voters registration list and use same to manipulate the results in favour of certain political party in the coming 2019 governorship elections in Kogi State.
“Accord Party wishes to inform the relevant security agencies, INEC and all stakeholders in Kogi State to be vigilant of these desperate moves and also express deep concern for the unsuspecting “voters”that want to be used for this nefarious and illegal act.
“Kogi State Accord Party also uses this medium to make it clear that no amount of desperation or calculative electoral illegality  of any politician will be strong enough to subvert the will of the people of Kogi State in the coming elections.
“We therefore call the attention of INEC to vehemently caution its staff not to, at anytime be instrumental to this illegality,” he said.
