Independence Day: Wife of Kogi Assembly Speaker Lauds State First Lady

The wife of the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Hajiya Zainab Ahmadu, has applauded the State First Lady, Hajiya Sefinat Ododo, for her sterling role in ensuring a robust and improved society for the women of the State and the youths.

She stated this on Tuesday against the backdrop of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Celebration, which was organised by the Wife of the Governor, Hajiya Sefinat Ododo, as held in Lokoja.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, the wife of the Speaker noted that Hajiya Sefinat has given the women in the state a sense of belonging and reason to back the current administration in all its policies and programmes.

She noted that the First Lady fittingly compliments the Governor in all his developmental agenda for the state, in view of her humble disposition and passion for improving the situation for the downtrodden.

The wife of the Speaker further noted that Hajiya Sefinat had shown that she desires to see a Kogi State where the plight of women and children is adequately taken care of.

She restated her commitment to supporting the wife of the Governor by designing a programme that does not only complement her own but also takes cues from the First Lady, whom she said is the mother of the entire state.

The birthday celebration also had in attendance, the wife of the Deputy Governor, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba and the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Folashade Arike Ayoade.

Also in attendance is the Commissioner for Women Affairs, wives of Senators from the state and wives of members of the Federal House of Representatives, other political appointees and other women groups.

Wives of Members of the state House of Assembly, Associations and others are also present at the occasion.
