Unknown gunmen, on Saturday, reportedly killed the the leader of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Ankpa local government area of Kogi State, Abu Welder, and two of his men.
Abu and his men were said to have been trailed by the gunmen to a place around White House, near the Ankpa Township Stadium, at about 7pm and opened fire on their vehicle, killing them on the spot.
According to a youth leader in Ankpa, Ismail Adejo, “the hoodlums trailed Abu welder, two of his boys and one other person and opened fire on them. The fourth person was a man who came to register a complaint.”
The Kogi state police command’s spokesman, SP Williams Ovye Aya, did not respond to calls on the incident.
