Senator Yakubu Oseni representing Kogi Central Senatorial District has joined the November 2023 Kogi governorship race.
Addressing journalists shortly after picking the intent and nomination forms at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, Senator Oseni declared that the current Kogi State government under the able leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello has done excellently well and therefore needs capable hand like him for consolidation.
Senator Oseni noted that as an experienced banker, revenue administrator and lawmaker, setting the Confluence State on the path of sustainable development would be his top priority when elected executive governor of the state.
While calling on his teeming supporters to shun acrimony and politics of bitterness, the lawmaker who insisted that there could be no development amidst rancour, advocated for peaceful polls in the forthcoming general election.
“For the records, I am for peace and I will continue to align myself to any endeavor that promote peace.
“This governorship contest is not a do-or-die affair and if you love me wholeheartedly, don’t attack anyone who may choose to mock, deride or insult me. We didn’t fight before getting the Senatorial mandate and we will definitely get to Lugard House without hurting anybody,” he said.
Senator Oseni who reminisced that he has digitalised many schools in Kogi Central and beyond as Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology, urged his supporters to solely campaign on his achievements in public offices rather than engage in electoral misconduct.
He promised to exceed his current performance as Senator when elected as Governor of Kogi State come November 2023.
