Kogi state police command, on Saturday evening, confirmed the arrest of one person in connection with the killing of some Fulani herdsmen and their cows in Acharu, Egume, in Dekina local government area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya who confirmed the arrest in Lokoja, said four suspects are still at large.
“One suspect by name Danjuma Adamu male, 35yrs old of Acharu Egume who is involved with other four suspects at large in the killing of the Fulanis and their cows at Acharu farm on the 12/05/2020 was arrested this evening,” he said.
He said that the team raised by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ede Ayuba are currently on the trail of the other suspects.
According to him, investigation has since commenced on the matter assuring that they will be made to face the full wrath of the law, adding that normalcy has since been restored in the area.
He called on the Fulanis not to embark on reprisal, saying that the command was doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Recall that some gunmen had invaded fulani settlement in the area, last Thursday, killing three persons and nine cows, leaving several persons injured.
