Kogi No Longer Safe for Criminals – Vigilante Boss

A very strong signal has been sent to criminals in Kogi state to either leave the state or be apprehended.

Giving the warning in Lokoja while speaking to Journalists, the State Comptroller of Kogi Vigilante Service, Col. Hassan Aliyu (rtd) stated that the agency has put adequate arrangements to tackle any influx of criminals to the state.

Aliyu reiterated his commitment to work round the clock and assist other security agencies to apprehend all criminals and ensure that their activities in the state are nipped in the bud.

He expressed confidence that armed robbery, kidnapping, burglary and other vices will be stamped out to Kogi a crime free state.

Aliyu revealed that one of the advantage vigilante service enjoy over other security agencies in the state is the ability to go deep into rural areas where other security forces may find difficult to penetrate. He added that these are areas where most of the criminal activities are prevalent.

Speaking on the activities of vigilante service in recent times, the Comptroller revealed that vigilante arrest criminals across the twenty one local government areas in the state on a daily basis and hand them over to Nigeria Police for prosecution.

According to him, vigilante service has recorded major break through in carrying out its statutory functions citing cases of some criminals that were impersonating as men of Nigeria Army but were arrested and handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution.

Aliyu commended the efforts of the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in making security of lives and property in the state his main priority.

According to him, the effective assistance, motivation and encouragement of the state governor to vigilante service has gone a long way in improving efficiency and morale of men and officers.

He stated the provision of functional motorcycles in all the two hundred and thirty nine wards in the state and vehicles at the state Command made the patrol to nooks and crannies of the state easy. 

He urged resident to always report any security breaches to the nearest security agency.

Aliyu reiterated his resolve to follow terms of conditions as enunciated in the law establishing the vigilante service in protecting lives and property, assist other security agencies.
