Nov. Poll: Efforts Will Be Made to Normalize Lingering Salary Issues in Kogi – Abubakar

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim has promised to resolve the lingering unpaid workers salary in the state.

Abubakar made this known in Lokoja on Thurday during the ongoing media parley with aspirants organised by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi state council.

He said efforts would be made to normalize the lingering salary crisis situation, adding that machinery will be put in place to improve the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state to reduce over dependency on Federal allocation.

While calling on the people of the state not to lose hope, he said that their present predicament would be short live. He urged electorate to open their eyes so as not to repeat the mistake of the past.

He promised to work with people of like minds to salvage Kogi State from its present state of underdevelopment and infrastructural deficit.

Abubakar, who is the son of former Governor Ibrahim Idris, said as an agriculturist by training, he would work to add value to agricultural produce, thereby creating jobs for the unemployed youths of the state.

The governorship aspirant maintained that he has all it takes to change the narratives of Kogi State, saying that if given the opportunity he will run an all-inclusive government.

In his remarks, the Chairman of NUJ Kogi State council, Alhaji Momohjimoh Adeiza commended Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim for honouring the invitation.

According to Adeiza, the media parley offers aspirants the golden opportunity to showcase themselves and to tell the people of the state their programmes and what they intend to do for the people when elected.

The Chairman assured aspirants that the journalists would be unbiased in their reportage, saying that the press has the constitutional responsibility of setting agenda for those who aspired to lead and to adequately inform the people so as to make informed choices.
