The All Progressive Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Alhaji Abdulkareem Isah, on Tuesday, urged Nigerians to use the Eid-El-Maulud period to emulate the exemplary lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad in the interest of peace.
The House of Representatives hopeful made the appealed during an interview with journalists in Lokoja.
Isah, who is the Wambai of Koton-Karfe, said this year Eid-El-Maulud is unique as it coincides with the lifting of ban on political campaigns by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“I want to use this medium to congratulate Muslims all over the world on this auspicious occasions and appeal to politicians to play the game by the rules,” he admonished.
He advised politicians to refrain from violence and focus on campaign of issues
The businessman turned politician urged Nigerians to follow the servant-leadership lifestyle exemplified by the prophet during his life time.
He noted that the prophet’s lifestyle made Islam a religion of peace and good neighbourliness it is noted for today throughout the world.
“Nigerians should learn to live in peace and shun all forms of in-fighting and unnecessary trouble-making in any form.
“We must shun all forms of evil we engage in today that give the country a negative image.
“Nigerians will do better if each one of us emulate the exemplary lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by being good citizens, living in peace with one another, especially our neighbours.
“It is only when we seek the face of almighty Allah (God) that His mercies will shower on the country to give us the needed peace to make rapid progress,’’ he said.
