Senator representing Kogi East in the red chamber, Atai Aidoko Ali has assured that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not mortgage the future of this country, the people of Kogi East and Kogi state in its quest to bequeath a lasting democratic legacy to the people.
Aidoko gave the assurance in his country home, Ugbamaka Iga over the weekend during the inauguration of his 2019 campaign team.
Aidoko, who is seeking a return to the senate in 2019 also met with PDP secretaries in Kogi East.
He said the team consists of two officials from each local government areas of the senatorial zone and will be headed by the new director general of the campaign organization, Alhaji Yahaya Alfa, alias Madije.
Aidoko urged the campaign team to work towards the success of the party at all levels of elections. He urged the campaign team to assist in detonating the false and ugly misrepresentation within and outside the party with regard to the office of Kogi East senator in spite of the litigation and efforts to provide social succor to the people of the area.
He expressed joy that the people of Kogi state have tested the political waters of the two strong political parties and has now resolved to know their onions and preferences. He sympathized with them on the hardship and bad governance in the state in the last three years.
The lawmaker said he will not pretend to be unaware of the hardship inflicted on the people of the state in the last three years without redress, noting that it is a deliberate act to relapse people into permanent poverty line.
He said his office has been doing the little it can to assist and reverse such trend but efforts may not be enough than for the people to vote out the perpetrators of this ugly trend and return the party to power as the popular choice of the people.
He expressed confidence in the campaign team to achieve the uphill task, saying the team stands the better chance to educate the electorates of Kogi East on the potentials and advantages of returning him to the senate, particularly the ranking status and other benefits. He cautioned that the upper legislative chamber does not need a learner
He thanked the people for their continuous support and solidarity while urging the people of Kogi East to dispel the rumour making rounds that he refused to vacate the senate, stating that he remained a bonafide member of the 8th National Assembly pending the apex court judgement.
Senator Aidoko reassured the people of Kogi East of adequate representation and delivery of dividends of democracy to the area in the area of employment, empowerment and provision of social services. He promised to commission projects provided by him in the nine local government areas of the senatorial zone in no distant time.
Aidoko told the members not to relent in their efforts to ensure victory for the senate and other PDP contestants, stating that a vote for other party in the state apart from the PDP is a taboo especially to the Igala/Bassa race and the entire state going by the ugly experience and obvious maladministration both at the state and federal levels.
Responding, the director general of Senator Atai Aidoko Ali campaign organization, Alhaji Yahaya Alfa thanked the senator for the confidence reposed on the new committee. He promised to bring to fruition the mandate and desire of the senator through collective efforts and the choice of the people of Kogi East.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government secretaries from the nine local government areas of Kogi East were hosted by the senator with a plea to ensure a level playing ground for all contestants in the forthcoming general elections.
Aidoko stated that the essence of democracy will be achieved if this trend is maintained.
He urged the party administrative officers to remain impartial and play the game according to the rules if genuinely the party want to move the people from the current doldrums of underdevelopment, acute poverty, persecution and political shenanigan been displayed by the current leadership of the state.
He told the party secretaries to hold all members of the party and aspirants as well as defectors to the party in high esteem as their contributions in the next election will move Kogi East, Kogi state and the entire country to eldorado.
Senator Aidoko described the party secretaries as the engine room of PDP, urging them to be dedicated, patriotic, obedient and loyal to the party with a view to achieving the people’s desire and the set goals in the next elections.
He urged the party men to bury their differences and move the people of the area from the current bondage by joining with full force to root out the current inhuman and autocratic leadership style been displayed by the current ruling party.
Kogi East senator promised to visit the administrative officers more frequently and also seek their audience with a view to deliberating on issues that will move the chances of the party forward and drive towards winning elections.
He advised the party secretaries to be vigilant and monitor the allegations by the people about influx of people from other states to obtain voters cards in anticipation of the 2019 general elections.
