A chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Hon. Blessing Aishat Ekele has hailed the efforts of the national women leader of the party, Hajia Salamatu Baiwa in the emergence of Dr. Kayode Fayemi as winner of just concluded Ekiti governorship election.
In a press statement issued to journalists in Lokoja on Tuesday, Ekele commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state for their unalloyed support that gave birth to a well deserved victory.
Ekele, who is a leading House of Reps aspirant in Ankpa-Olamaboro-Omala Federal constituency, hailed Buhari, Bello and other party chieftains for providing the needed leadership which gave the party the cause to smile at the just concluded Ekiti polls.
She maintained that being the first assignment of the party under the able leadership of Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomole, the political sagacity which was demonstrated at the Ekiti governorship election is a testimony to the fact that the former Nigerian Labour President (NLC) and two times governor of Edo state remains a man of consistency who has brought his intelligence and vast experience to bear.
Hon. Blessing Ekele, who said the victory is no doubt a pointer to the success the party would enjoy during the 2019 general elections, also congratulated the Governor-elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi, for putting up a good fight which gave APC victory against an incumbent PDP led government in Ekiti state.
She added that although Dr Fayemi’s journey to victory was a tough one, at the end, the will of the people prevailed against PDP propaganda machinery.
“Hon. Blessing Aishat Ekele want to congratulate the party leader, President Mohammadu Buhari, the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the National Women leader, Hajia Salamatu Baiwa for encouraging the women in Ekiti to come out en-mass to vote, the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who had to go door to door, speaking Ebira language to our people residing over there; and the candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi for the party’s resounding victory in the Ekiti state governorship election that held on Saturday,” she expressed.
Equally, she said, “I also wish to commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the security agencies and the local and international observers for their roles in ensuring that the Ekiti governorship election was hitch- free, fair and very credible”.
Also, she commended the great people of Ekiti state for coming in their large numbers to vote for the APC, stressing that by their expression via the ballot papers last Saturday, the state has chosen to join the league of progressive states in the country.
And for the people of her constituency, she said, “I want to use this opportunity to assure my people in Ankpa, Omalla and Olamaboro that with the APC victory in Ekiti state, the tasks of rescuing the constituency to join committee of progressive government is sure, urging them to remain steadfast as the day of redemption is very close. If am giving a chance to enjoy your mandate via 2019 general election, that will mark the end of continuous suffering in my constituency”.
